Easy’s Twin Kiss

605 320x240 twin kiss mug Easys Twin Kiss     There were a number of homes and businesses along Ellwood-Zelienople Road and South Second Street that were torn to build the new four lane highway. We would appreciate any memories you might have of these buildings or pictures you may be able to share as we are working on a full story about these.
We are going to focus on one of those businesses now that you might recall. Do you remember Easy’s Twin Kiss, located a little north and on the opposite side of the road as the old North Star School? Easy’s Twin Kiss was a classic drive-up on Ellwood-Zelienople Road that served hamburgers, hot dogs, french fries, pulled pork barbeque sandwiches, steak sandwich, homemade soup, and more. People remember going there just for the delicious ice cream, milkshakes, and of course the famous Big Kiss Sundae.
Yes, they had good food, yes they had good ice cream, but you can not mention Easy’s Twin Kiss without mentioning their famous home-made root-beer. Easy’s served their root-beer in large thick heavy frozen glass mugs. The mugs were so nice that they had a difficult time getting the mugs back after someone ordered a root-beer.

  1. Yes I remember going there and they used to charge for spoons and straws. Don’t forget that famous cone that was chocolate and vanilla twist.
I only knew of 1 other Twin Kiss and that was on Rt 68 just outside of Rochester I think.

  2. It was probably about 1970 (?) when I attended hamburger eating contests at Easy’s with a bunch of friends including Tom Tritt (a contestant). I’m pretty sure the hamburgers didn’t have anything on them – making them a little more difficult to get down – and I’m pretty sure they had something to drink – perhaps water – I wonder what anyone else remembers?

I attended North Star School and having an ice cream cone the last day of school from Easy’s was a special treat my parents provided for my sister, brother and I. Of course, the Twin Kiss was everyone’s favorite, but I just liked vanilla.

Was the gas station across the street called Pelloni’s? and does anyone have a photo of the Barn that stood on the fourth corner of that intersection? I remember the spectacular fire that destroyed the barn, too. We just happened to be driving by when it was burning – it was hot even from a distance.

Thanks for sharing what you remember, too!

  3. Reply to Jonica Walters…

The gas station across from Easy’s may at one time have been owned by Pelloni’s, but was also called Slade’s at one time, (I think during the 40′s). My Grandmother lived across the road in the old North Star Two-Room School, and remembers something about the guy used to raise and sell bull dogs at the gas station. Another owner of the station was Vic Nye. (Vic’s mother was my Grandfather’s sister). I have old “Christmas photo cards” of the Nye family standing in front of the gas station.
My Grandmother says that the little service station that was located up in Hardyville was owned by Fred Pelloni.

  4. I remember going there with my mom. We used to go there when my dad was on 3 to 11, love those times. Good Ice Cream and good food.

  5. I used to love their steak sandwiches. Good stuff………
