The Medal of Honor has been awarded to fewer than 3,500 people since the Civil War, including about 250 who served in Vietnam.

According to the book "A Guide to the Old Stone Blast Furnaces in Western Pennsylvania" by Sharp and Thomas. The Homewood Furnace was built in 1858 and was located in Ellwood City, in Park Gate, near the current site of the Copart Auto Salvage Yard.
